The research for the song was a bit more complicated than usual because of the fact that sources were in Portugese.He came across the story of the "Drei Brasilianischen Helden" ("Three Brazilian Heroes") and decided to write lyrics about the story. When the band was looking for lyrical topics for Heroes, Pär typed German word "Helden" ("Heroes) on the internet.Pär said that he likes to have the local languages in their songs, which gives them an extra touch. ![]() Joakim said that altough he likes to experiment musically (like in To Hell and Back), he also likes to write the most stereotypical Sabaton song like "Smoking Snakes" where it takes one and half second to recognize which band is playing.Until Joakim wrote Night Witches, "Smoking Snakes" was meant to be the opening song on Heroes.It's working title was "Heroes", before the band written any lyrics for it.Joakim composed the song using only a piano (as a limitation for himself) without the help of a computer, then the song was "Sabatonized".It was the first song composed for the album.
